Design Clinicals' Patient Pilot is a handheld application that helps providers make healthcare decisions for their hospitalized patients by providing access to important patient data and facilitating communication among the healthcare team.

Hospital physicians usually care for many patients at once and must manage each patient's laboratory tests, imaging studies, consults and other data. Patient Pilot provides immediate access to that patient data and streamlined process for communicating the data to the next provider of care, allowing physicians to quickly and effectively round on their patients and focus their attention on the important task of making healthcare decisions. This tool is especially useful for on-call residents.

The Patient Pilot system compiles and tracks:

• Demographics: date of birth, age, gender, primary care provider, and location within the hospital
• Admitting Diagnosis: medical aliment that brought the patient to the hospital
• Medication Lists: medications the patient is currently taking
• Allergies: the patient's known medication allergies
• Problem Lists: a clear and concise listing of the patient's current medical illnesses, signs and symptoms
• To-Do Lists: helps the provider track open tasks on the patient and prioritize the steps needed to reach an accurate diagnosis
• Sign-out: a feature that allows physicians to quickly and smoothly transfer patient information to their partners who are assuming care for the patient
